Why seventeen pencils, you may ask? Because first of all, seventeen is an excellent number. I have often been known to purchase exactly $17 of gasoline at a gas station, with mixed responses from the cashier. But seventeen has creative significance as well. Using seventeen pencils to create indicates loud, chaotic, utterly genius process. This isn’t how I work, but this is most certainly my goal. The louder and faster, the better!

17 is indeed a fantastic number. It’s the day I was born. The number 17 just seems to spring up all the time.

The other day I took a ticket for my place in the queue at the post office. My ticket was number 17 and somehow I immediately got ushered past the queue to get served.

So it’s pretty much like magic, huh? I’d definitely agree with that sentiment!
